Hello and Welcome!

I'm Johnny, and I run Piano Hands, a piano teaching studio based in Gloucester that specialises in helping learners of all ages to get to grips with probably the greatest hobby in the history of the world. Ok, maybe I'm a little biased, but one thing is for sure: learning the piano isn't half as scary as you may think. In fact, more than anything it's great fun. You'd be surprised at how quickly (with practice!) you can master the basics, and once you've done that you've set out on a musical adventure that can last a lifetime.

Learning to play the piano is a wonderful skill to develop and an endlessly fascinating hobby to enjoy. Not only that, but research shows that children who learn to play a musical instrument often perform better in other aspects of their learning too, in areas as diverse as maths and languages. It can be a real confidence booster too - there really is nothing like that sense of accomplishment you feel when you're able to perform a new piece after all the hard work of learning it. Check out the articles on the 'Why learn?' page to find out more.

But it also takes a lot of effort, motivation and patience - and without the enthusiasm and self-guided discipline to practice practice practice, the journey won't go very far.

That's why Piano Hands is perfect for new learners, with a series of lessons especially designed to excite, inspire and surprise children as they take their very first steps along the way. Find out more about the Piano Hands approach here
